Walsall Accept Bid for Striker Morgan Ferrier

Walsall FC has confirmed that they have accepted a bid for want-away striker Morgan Ferrier, with an as-yet unnamed club now able to discuss personal terms with the front-man.
Ferrier joined midfielder George Dobson - who has since joined Sunderland - in requesting to leave the club following the recent relegation to the fourth tier of English football, and looks to have taken a big step in his desire to depart.

Morgan, who netted six goals in thirty-nine appearances during his debut season in the Black Country, was the subject of a transfer bid from Southend United during the January Transfer Window but rejected the Shrimpers' advances with a view to earning more game time with the Saddlers.

24-year-old Plaistow-born Ferrier, who joined the club from National League outfit Boreham Wood last summer, has been working hard to improve his fitness over the last few weeks as he looks to start the 2019/20 campaign on the front foot, the only thing remaining now is which team he will be starting the season with.

Speaking to the Express & Star's Walsall correspondent Joseph Masi, Saddlers manager Darrell Clarke confirmed; "A fee has been agreed with a club for Morgan Ferrier. We have known for a while now that Morgan’s desire was to leave.

"He made that clear in the first week we came back. But these things take time to develop. We’ll wish him all the best and thank him for his efforts. I have said it all along we want players who want to be at the football club.

"It’s the start of a new era, a new dawn. It’s a new group, a new owner and I know the fans – having spoken with them the other night – want players who want to be here."
