Clarke, who welcomed the majority of his squad back to pre-season training on Monday, is said to be keen to get the bulk of his signings sorted ahead of the Saddlers' team-building trip to Poland, as he hopes to have a settled side before the season gets underway in early August.
Two players identified among the few partaking in training on Tuesday afternoon are ex-Wolves duo Jonathan Flatt and Liam McAlinden, with the pair currently without clubs after their respective stays with Scunthorpe United and Cheltenham Town came to an end at the end of last season.
24-year-old Wolverhampton-born Flatt, a goalkeeper who is a product of his home town club's youth academy, failed to make a single appearance during his may years at Molineux but did enjoy loan success with the likes of Wrexham, Chesterfield, Cheltenham Town, Barrow, and Kidderminster Harriers before joining Scunthorpe United last summer.
Jonathan failed to make an impact with the Iron and was unsurprisingly listed among the club's released and retained at the end of last season, joining the hundreds of players seeking a new club over the next few weeks and months.
25-year-old McAlinden, a striker who was born in nearby Cannock, is also a product of Wolves' youth system and went on to make nineteen first-team appearances after turning pro in 2010. Liam is also no stranger to the loan system having made appearances for Shrewsbury Town, Fleetwood Town and Crawley Town before completing a permanent switch to Exeter City in 2016.
After two seasons and just over thirty league appearances Liam exited the Grecians last summer, ultimately penning a two-year deal with Cheltenham Town before enjoying loan spells with Brackley Town and Kidderminster Harriers after failing to secure a spot in the Robins' first-team.
It is not known if the Saddlers have serious interest in the duo, but only time will tell as we edge ever-closer to the start of the 2019/20 campaign.
