Former Bristol Rovers Boss Among the Favourites to be Walsall's New Manager

With Walsall's relegation to Sky Bet League Two confirmed, EFL sponsor Sky Bet have compiled the latest odds on who is likely to take the currently-vacant manager's job on a permanent basis at the start of next season.
Whilst former Barnsley and Rochdale boss Keith Hill, who saw his odds shrink over recent weeks, is considered the favourite to take the club into the next chapter - and can be backed with odds of 5/6, there are a few managers who have also edged higher up the list.

Early favourite Chris Powell, the man who had topped the list during the early weeks following Dean Keates departure has seen his odds slip to 20/1. The 49-year-old former Charlton Athletic, Huddersfield Town, and Southend United boss is no longer considered a likely proposition for the club.

One of the potential managers to see his odds slashed is former Bristol Rovers boss, Darrell Clarke, who is now seen as third favourite with the bookie offering odds of just 3/1 for the former midfielder to take charge of the club.

41-year-old Clarke, who played for the likes of Mansfield Town, Hartlepool United, Stockport County, Port Vale, Rochdale and Salisbury City during an 18-year playing career, is currently out of work after leaving Rovers in mid December, following a string of poor results.

Interim manager Martin O'Connor, who was ultimately unable to halt the Saddlers' slide into the fourth tier after replacing former boss Dean Keates, is available at 7/1 with the straight-talking former midfielder earning plenty of backers following his no-nonsense approach to post-match interviews.

There are several former Saddlers continue to be on the list with club legend Jorge Leitáo available at 20/1 whilst current Watford assistant manager Zigor Aranalde is available at 20/1. Current captain Adam Chambers and former manager Jon Whitney can be found at 25/1, with Ian Sharps at 20/1.

Motherwell boss Stephen Robinson, the 44-year-old can be found at just 12/1 to take charge ahead of the season opening game in August.
