Next Walsall Manager: Ex-Barnsley & Rochdale Boss Now Favourite to Take the Helm

With just three games of the 2018/19 League One campaign remaining, EFL sponsor Sky Bet have compiled the latest odds on who is likely to take the currently-vacant Walsall manager's job on a permanent basis at the start of next season.
There is a new favourite to take the helm at Banks's Stadium as former Barnsley and Rochdale boss Keith Hill, has seen his odds shrink over recent days - and is considered the perfect candidate to take the club into the next chapter - can now be backed with odds of just 2/1.

Chris Powell, the man who has been at the top of the list since Dean Keates departed earlier this month at the top of the list is now joint second favourite with the 49-year-old former Charlton Athletic, Huddersfield Town, and Southend United boss listed at 4/1 with Sky Bet.

Current caretaker Martin O'Connor, who saw his side steal a late, undeserved point against Southend United on Good Friday, remains joint second favourite to take the helm, with ex-Shrewsbury Town and Ipswich Town boss Paul Hurst joining him with odds of 4/1.

There are several former Saddlers on the list with club legend Jorge Leitáo available at 16/1 whilst current Watford assistant manager Zigor Aranalde is available at 12/1. Current captain Adam Chambers and former manager Jon Whitney can be found at 25/1, with Ian Sharps at 20/1.

Short-term assistant manager David Kelly is listed at 22/1, whilst King of the Jungle Harry Redknapp, who was in attendance as the Saddlers faced the Shrimpers on Friday afternoon, remains among the long list of outsiders priced at 33/1.

One of the newer names to enter the betting is current Motherwell boss Stephen Robinson, the 44-year-old can be found at just 7/1 to take charge ahead of the season opening game in August.
