Preston Linked With Josh Ginnelly as Winger Misses Peterborough Clash

Sky Bet Championship side Preston North End are lining up a move for Walsall winger Josh Ginnelly, with the ex-Burnley man said to be at the top of North End manager Alex Neil's Christmas shopping list.
21-year-old Ginnelly has made twenty-five first-team appearances since returning to the Saddlers on a free transfer over the summer, bagging four goals and notching one assist along the way. He has formed an integral part of the Saddlers' attacking line and will no doubt be seen as a major loss if a deal does indeed take place.

The Coventry-born man, who was on-loan at Banks's Stadium during the 2016/17 campaign, spent last season on-loan with Lincoln City and National League - Play-Off winners Tranmere Rovers and was released by parent club Burnley shortly after the Prenton Park outfit had secured a return to the EFL.

Josh, who has not been named in the Walsall squad to take on Peterborough United this afternoon, is out of contract in the summer and was believed to be high on manager Dean Keates' list of priorities as he looks to secure the futures of his squad's brightest and best, with many deals set to expire at the end of the current campaign.

North End remain hopeful of securing the wingers signature, with the North West club reportorial seeking to land 'Gino' on a cut-price deal with the player having such a short contract length remaining.

Neither club has yet confirmed any details of the proposed deal, with both choosing to play their cards close to their chest.
