International Saddlers: Kouhyar Called Up

Walsall FC have confirmed that winger Maz Kouhyar has received an international call-up for Afghanistan’s upcoming fixture against Turkmenistan, meaning he will not be in contention to take on Peterborough United this weekend.
21-year-old Kouhyar, who will join up with his teammates this weekend, has earned two previous caps for Afghanistan – with his first official call-up coming in a friendly against Oman, where he was on the losing side in August 2017.

Previous to his appearance against Oman, which Afghanistan lost 2-0, Kouhyar received a call-up to the senior squad for another friendly, against Malaysia, in October 2016.

Maz has made four first-team appearances for the Saddlers so far this season, all of which have come in cup competitions, scoring one goal, a header against Middlesbrough Under-21s in the Chackatrade Trophy.

He will be back in contention for the Saddlers’ game against Charlton Athletic on New Year’s Day.
