Liam Kinsella Working Hard to Retain His Starting Spot

Walsall midfielder Liam Kinsella has spoken ahead of this weekend's Emirates FA Cup - Second Round clash with Sunderland and admitted that he and his teammates will be putting in the hours at the club's Essington Training Ground in order to cut down on the number of goals which they are conceding.
Kinsella, who has formed part of the Saddlers' starting XI alongside George Dobson, believes that the team have performed well over recent games but still need to cut out silly errors at the back, especially if they are to get back to winning ways sooner rather than later.

Speaking via the Express & Star, Liam said; "We have played the top two teams in the league now and given a good account of ourselves. We have done well. It’s just the goals we have conceded. If you concede two goals like that you’ve got to score three. We are working hard to try to put that right.

"The frustrating thing is a lot of them come from ourselves. We are making silly mistakes. We need to cut them out and that will stop the goals going in."

Colchester-born Kinsella, who has made fourteen first-team appearances so far this season, is hoping to cement his position alongside stand-in captain George Dobson, with the duo forming a solid partnership over the last few weeks.

Kins added; "Me and Dobbo are putting in a good shift in together. I am enjoying it playing back in central midfield. I am trying to put in good performances to stay in the team. You have got Ozzy and Connor, Joe when he is back fit.

"They are all breathing down your neck to get the shirt. If you have one bad game they can be back in the team so I have to play the best I can every week and if I do that hopefully I will stay in the team."
