WFCCP: Liam Kinsella Launches 'Swifty's Pen and Play'

Walsall FC Community Programme and midfielder Liam Kinsella launched a new writing competition for pupils at a local primary school last week.
'Swifty’s Pen and Play’, supported by local firm Protec Direct, offers Delves Junior School's pupils the chance to win prizes such as half-term soccer school places and match tickets.

Years 3, 4, 5 and 6 pupils will write and design a ‘Football CV’, detailing their favourite team, favourite player and showing why they deserve to win.

Saddlers player Liam Kinsella joined Swifty for the launch of the competition, and also took part in a Q&A with the children. Speaking shortly after the event, Liam said; "The prizes give them something to work towards and it’s a good way of encouraging them to read and write and I think they will enjoy it."

Assistant Inclusion Officer, Jamie Shelley-Ewan, added; "As part of my new role I’m trying to engage with as many diverse groups as possible.

"With the help of Protec Direct it’s great that we’ve been able to offer these opportunities to the children at Delves and we look forward to reading their CVs in a few weeks’ time."

Lauren Foulds, Product Manager at Protec Direct, said; "Working with WFCCP has been a fantastic experience and we are happy to be supporting our local community. Encouraging kids to engage in group activities helps break boundaries and promote health.

"We hope to help inspire kids to believe in themselves and reach for the stars, whether it be in football, or anything else they may be passionate about."
