Birmingham Senior Cup: Romulus 5 Walsall 1

Here is our update from Monday evening's Birmingham County FA Senior Challenge Cup - First Round clash between Walsall's development side and hosts, Romulus.
The Saddlers, who are managed by the club's Professional Development Coach John Ward, named a young side as the first-team players were unable due to Tuesday's Sky Bet League One clash with Southend United.

With club officials opting not to enter the Central League this season, Walsall's development side are only contesting the various Senior Cup competitions during the 2018/19 campaign and headed into Monday evening's match keen to earn a place in the Second Round.

Sadly for Ward's Walsall they will have to make do with the competing in the Walsall and Staffordshire Senior Cups along with the Central League Cup as a Josh Willis hat-trick, along with goals from Lewis Commins, and Dimitri Dunkley saw Romulus home to victory.

Walsall did grab a consolation before Willis completed his treble, but no doubt a hugely disappointing result for the Saddlers as they were on the receiving end of a drubbing, the second-half simply going from bad to worse as they Roms romped to victory.
