Newly appointed Walsall manager Dean Keates has taken to Twitter to thank Wrexham's fans, players and backroom staff for their support over the last fifteen months, before wishing them well for the future.

A statement, released via his official Twitter feed, Dean said; "Wrexham AFC fans, board members, employees and work colleagues, thanks for all the support in the last 15 months, it’s been an honour for me to manage your great club.

"I understand the "why now questions" with only nine games left. Unfortunately football has its own timing, I couldn’t pass up this opportunity to manage my hometown club as it may never of presented itself again.

"Everyone stay united behind the team and be the difference as you have numerous times this season. Also the fan owned ownership concept, the hard work that everyone puts in, is making it work and it will get your club back to where it deserves to be."
