Rochdale: Davison-Hale; Matheson, Appiah, Morley, Neild, Renner, Hopper, Hoti, Tavares, Adshead, Kuemo

Graham Biggs's Saddlers were in twelfth position ahead of kick-off having won just three of their fourteen games. Their most recent outing took place on 10th February and saw them slip to a last-minute defeat to Blackpool as Will Dunne's injury time strike secured three points for the Seasiders.

Second-placed Rochdale hadn't been in action for several weeks but remained within reach of league-leaders Wigan Athletic, a side which they defeated by two-goals-to-nil in their most recent competitive outing, which took place in late January.

The match started badly for the Saddlers as Rochdale's Neil Kuemo opened the scoring after five minutes of play with a cross which avoided everyone and somehow ended up in the back of the net.

Both sides continued to have chances with the visiting side going close to stretching their advantage, but there were no further goals as Kuemo's early strike helps Dale remain in second place, whilst Biggs's Saddlers continue to struggle for form.
