Liam Roberts: Walsall Set to Offer 'Keeper a New Long-Term Deal

Walsall FC have started contract negotiations with current first-choice goalkeeper Liam Roberts.
Walsall manager Jon Whitney has confirmed that the club have started contract negotiations with current first-choice goalkeeper Liam Roberts, as the Walsall-born stopper continues to impress with his solid performances between the sticks.

Jon, speaking ahead of Saturday's League One clash with Blackpool, confirmed; "We are in negotiations now with Liam. I have spoken to the board and we are trying to get something done. We want to get him on a long-term deal if we can."

23-year-old Roberts, who is a product of the Saddlers' youth system, has made a total of twelve appearances so far this season and earned plenty of praise for his solid displays.

Liam's contract is due to expire in the summer, although the club do have an option for a further year in their favour, but are keen to hand Roberts a long-term deal to secure his future.
