Youth Alliance Cup | Walsall Face Shrewsbury Town Later This Morning

Walsall's Under 18s are back in action later this morning as they take on Shrewsbury Town in the EFL Youth Alliance Northern Cup.
Graham Biggs' Walsall Under-18s are back in action on Saturday morning as they take on Shrewsbury Town in the first group game of the EFL Youth Alliance Northern Cup.

The Saddlers and Shrews, who are joined in Group 5 by Burton Albion and Mansfield Town, have already met once this season as they opened their Youth Alliance campaigns at the beginning of August - the Shrews won that match by two-goals-to-one.

Walsall arrive at this weekend's match on the back of a disappointing defeat to Port Vale, the Valiants winning the match by two-goals-to-one, with Joe Cairns scoring for the men in red.

Shrewsbury's last match was a one-nil victory over Rochdale, the result helping the young Shrews get back to winning ways after being defeated by Preston North End a few weeks ago.

Today's match will take place at Shrewsbury Sports Village with kick-off scheduled for 11:00am.
