Whitney Working on Deadline Day Deal

Saddlers boss Jon Whitney is keen to add another player ahead of this evening's Transfer Deadline.
Walsall manager Jon Whitney has spoken to the local press and confirmed that he is hopeful of signing one more attacking player ahead of this evening's transfer deadline, but nothing is guaranteed.

With the Summer Transfer Window set to close at 11.00pm this evening, managers up and down the country are in negotiations with players and agents as they look to secure their squad for the next few months, so Whitney could find it tough as players are increasingly likely to bide their time until the right offer comes along.

The Saddlers have very little width in attack and are said to be keen to boost numbers in that area of the squad, however it is unknown who they have been negotiating with as Jon Whitney continue to keep his cards close to his chest.

Jon, who was speaking via the Express & Star, said; "We are still working to try and add one if we can. Whether we will, we’ll have to see what happens over the day. A couple of the targets we have had over the past few weeks have decided to stay with their parent clubs.

"We have been a little bit unfortunate but I can understand why because they have done well. We’re going to have to see what happens. We have been looking to reinforce up top and also in the wide areas. I wanted to bring in one of the two.

"We’ll get training out the way today and then I’ll sit down and make a few phone calls and speak to a few people to see what develops."
