Whitney Praise for Saddlers Starlets - Wants Them to Secure First-Team Role

Whitney praised the recent development of several promising youngsters, with many invited to train with the first-team as part of the summer training sessions the manager has put on in recent weeks.
As Walsall manager Jon Whitney and his team continue to identify targets ahead of the 2017/18 campaign, the gaffer has spoken to Walsall Press Officer Ashley Wilkinson praised Head of Youth Graham Biggs and Development coach John Ward before challenging some of the younger members of the squad to force their way into his plans.

Jon, who was speaking via the newly redesigned Saddlers.co.uk, said; "It’s really good. I’ve seen a lot of them and we’ve got some first and second years up with us for these sessions. There will be a couple of lads who have come up from school last year to train with some of the first-team players.

"This is part of the process behind the scenes, in getting them used to the environment really. They’ve been impressive - I’ve watched many games and Graham has done really well with them.

"The U18s finished third in their league and John Ward has done great with the kids. It’s up to them to stake a claim and try to force their way into the first team."
