Walsall boss Jon Whitney has spoken to the local press and offered an update on the injury status of midfielder Florent Cuvelier, who was substituted during the recent League One draw with Scunthorpe United after catching his studs in the turf, causing a grade-two calf strain.

Speaking via the Express & Star, Jon, who is preparing his side for this weekend's clash with AFC Wimbledon, said; "There are no long term problems. He has got a grade two calf strain. He will be between four and six weeks so we’re looking at the beginning of April for Flo.

"It’s not as bad as we were fearing after the first few days and when we saw how much pain he was in. Calf strains go from grade one to grade three depending on how much muscle fibres are involved. Grade three is the most serious kind but it’s grade two.

"Four to six weeks isn’t great news but it could have been worse, it could have affected his Achilles. He now has to get himself ready for the run in."
