Walsall manager Jon Whitney has spoken to the local press and discussed his desire to keep on-loan Scunthorpe United defender Scott Laird on a permanent basis, as the 28-year-old continues to impress during his appearances for the Saddlers.

Speaking via the Express & Star, Jon said; "Scott is somebody I would really like to keep. I know we have got him until January but I don’t mind saying I’d like to keep him as a part of the group. We brought him in for experience because he brings a calm head. I’ll be doing what I can to keep him here long term."
