Walsall manager Jon Whitney has spoken to the local press ahead of this weekend's League One clash with Northampton Town, and has offered a brief update on the status of midfielder Reece Flanagan, who is currently sidelined with a knee injury.

Speaking via the Express & Star, Jon said; "Reece is our only long-term absentee but he is doing well and on target to be back in December. I can relate to Reece, as I had three ACL ruptures in my career so I understand what it takes to get back from this. He’s working really hard. He will come back from the injury a much stronger athlete, both mentally and physically."
