As Walsall manager Jon Whitney continues to prepare for Saturday afternoon's season-opening clash with AFC Wimbledon, he has spoken to the local press and offered an update on the status of club-record signing Andreas Makris.
Speaking to Joseph Masi of the Express & Star, Jon confirmed that he and the club are still awaiting clearance for the 20-year-old Cyprus international, but are confident that any issues will be resolved soon, and expect him to be in the squad to face the recently-promoted Dons at the weekend.
Before joining the Saddlers, Andreas, who has made appearances for the Cyprus Under 17s, Under 19s and the full international side, played for AEP Paphos and Anorthosis Famagusta.
