With Walsall's opening game of the 2016/17 Sky Bet League One campaign just a couple of days away, First Team manager Jon Whitney has spoken to the local press and offered an update on the status of midfielder Isaiah Osbourne.
Speaking to Joseph Masi of the Express & Star, Jon confirmed that he will hold further contract negotiations with Osbourne today, and expects the Birmingham-born former England Under 16 international to agree terms and be in the squad to face AFC Wimbledon on Saturday.
Before joining the Saddlers in September 2015, Isaiah played for Aston Villa, Nottingham Forest (loan), Middlesbrough (loan), Sheffield Wednesday (loan), Hibernian, Blackpool and Scunthorpe United.
Osbourne failed to make a first-team appearance last season as he suffered a serious knee injury during training, but following almost a year of rehabilitation Isaiah has had a solid pre-season campaign and should be another positive signing as Whitney continues to put his stamp on the Saddlers' squad.
