Following the news that Walsall defender Rico Henry had been linked with a transfer to Dean Smith's Brentford, it is now understood that the England Under 19 international is in the early stages of contract discussions with the Bees as he looks set to leave the Banks's Stadium.

English Football League broadcaster Sky Sports are this afternoon reporting that Birmingham-born Rico is in talks with the Griffin Park side as the Saddlers look set to lose yet another member of last season's Play-Off reaching side.

Walsall left-back Rico Henry is in talks over a permanent switch to Brentford, according to Sky sources. The highly-rated 19-year-old worked under Brentford manager Dean Smith when he was boss at the Saddlers.

Walsall have had a complete squad overhaul over the summer with the likes of Jason Demetriou, Sam Mantom, Anthony Forde, Milan Lalkovic, Romaine Sawyers and Tom Bradshaw all departing.

The new set of players are yet to gel as Jon Whitney's side are winless since their season-opening victory over AFC Wimbledon.
