On Saturday afternoon, Neil Woods' Walsall Under 18s side travelled the short distance to the Shrewsbury Sports Village where they took on Shrewsbury Town Under 18s in the opening group game of this season's EFL Youth Alliance Cup.

The young Saddlers fell behind early on as John McAtee's long-distance free kick deflected past Brandon Ganley in the Walsall goal.

Walsall levelled the scores ten minutes into the second half as Tobias Hayles-Docherty cut the ball back to the onrushing Cameron Peters, who slipped the ball past the 'keeper in the Salop goal.

Neil Woods' side would go into the lead with just under twenty minutes of the game remaining as Cameron Peters cooly slotted home a penalty.

Sadly the game would end all-square as Shrewsbury equalised late on as Tyrone Ofori scored with a low drive.
