As the 2016/17 Sky Bet League One campaign edges ever closer, Walsall manager Jon Whitney has spoken to the local press and revealed that he is looking to sign players in attacking positions, and is hopeful of completing a deal this week.

Speaking via the Express & Star, Jon said; “We are looking in the forward positions now. I’m hopeful something will happen this week with one and I’ve got some irons in the fire for a possible loan signing as well.

“It’s a case of watch of this space at the moment. I want players who really want to play for Walsall. I don’t want individuals. I have been offered a lot of players, players who are technically very good. But if their personality doesn’t fit, I can’t bring them in. I want people who will buy into the team ethos.”
