In an update to Sunday afternoon's article linking Walsall with a move for Anorthosis Famagusta forward Andreas Makris; Famagusta's official website has confirmed that a deal is done, subject to the successful completion of a medical.

Translated reports, posted on AnorthosisFC.com state; Anorthosis Famagusta announces the transfer of our international striker Andreas Makris (to) English (club) Walsall.

Congratulations to Andreas, who is flying today for the United Kingdom in order to go through the necessary medical tests. With his talent and commitment to hard work, he managed to achieve the transfer of abroad.

The whole family Anorthosis wishes him to have a brilliant international course, always remaining humble and down to earth, with faith in the potential. At the same time, we wish him every personal happiness.

Earlier reports had suggested that the Saddlers had lodged a €150,000 bid, with the Cypriot side seeking around €300,000 for the 20-year-old Cyprus international.

Following a youth career with the likes of Olimpico, Arsenal Paphos, Atromitos Yeroskipou and AEP Paphos, Andreas turned professional with Paphos in 2012 and went on to make around fourteen first-team appearances before joining Anorthosis Famagusta for €20,000 at the start of the 2013/14 campaign.

He has made over ninety first-team appearances for his side over the last few seasons, firmly establishing himself in the starting line-up.

Andreas has made appearances for the Cyprus Under 16s, Under 19s and full international side and could be a big addition to the new-look Saddlers side.

Should the transfer be completed it would see the Saddlers break their long-standing transfer record which currently stands at £175,000, which they paid to bring Alan Buckley back from Birmingham City in the summer of 1979.
