With the 2016/17 Sky Bet League One campaign just around the corner, Walsall Chief-Executive Stefan Gamble has spoken to the Express and Star's Saddlers correspondent Joseph Masi, and revealed that he and the board are yet to decide on next season's playing budget.

Gamble, when asked if the Saddlers board will increase the playing budget for the upcoming campaign, said; “It’s too early to say at this stage. We’re still putting plans in place for the upcoming campaign and once we’ve done that we’ll know where we are.

"We’ve offered contracts to players we feel can take the club forward and we’ll no doubt be looking to add to the squad over the course of the summer. As teams have shown in the past though, having the biggest budget doesn’t always equate to guaranteed success.”
