Port Vale's former Walsall defender Ben Purkiss has spoken to the press ahead of Sunday afternoon's season-ending Sky Bet League 1 clash, and has discussed his desire to defeat his former side, sending them into the Play-Off's.

Speaking via The Sentinel, Ben said; "I've had questions about this all week! Walsall is a great club and they have some great people there but it is about being professional and wanting to win. I don't think anyone wants to see a team come to their ground and have a promotion party."

With the 12th-placed Valiants guaranteed to finish in the top half, Purkiss also discussed his belief that the season has been a successful one, he said; "I think we have been competitive in pretty much every single game. Millwall aside, I don't think anyone has outplayed us over two games. So, we have seen that we can reach the heights and seen that we can compete. We have beaten some strong teams, we are one of the few teams that has beaten Wigan this season."
