PAPER TALK | Whitney Looks Ahead to 'Interesting' Play-Offs

Walsall's Interim Head Coach Jon Whitney has spoken to the local press ahead of this weekend's Sky Bet League 1 Play-Off Semi Final First Leg clash with Barnsley, and has praised his side as they head into the match in good form.

Speaking via the Express & Star, Jon said; “All four teams are in very good form so it’s going to be interesting. But we have kept our consistency away from home and our home form has picked up. That is great for us.

“Before there was a little bit of tension at home but we’ve seen in the last month by beating the likes of Shrewsbury and Fleetwood we are ready at home.

“It makes us a really difficult opponent because away from home we are a real danger on the counter. Defensively we are strong. What really pleased me against Port Vale was the control we showed.

“We were really resilient and made sure we weren’t going to concede. They are the traits, if you carry that forward you win more games than you lose.”
