Walsall attacking-midfielder Romaine Sawyers has spoken to club journalists following Saturday afternoon's League 1 victory over Colchester United, and has discussed his feelings as the Saddlers left it late to grab all three points.
Speaking via Saddlers.co.uk, Romaine said; “I’ve never felt like that in football - it felt like we’d won the league. Everyone was excited and didn’t know where to run, where to look, who to grab – they were great scenes.
"At half time we said we could get back into the game. It probably took longer than we expected but as long as we get the three points it's alright. We came good at the end. After the first goal, it looked like we could go and get a second goal and created three or four chances.
"It was a game where our performance wasn't as pretty as people associate us with as we're a pretty passing team. But it showed the resilience we've got, which is the kind of thing you need to get promoted. We showed the other side to our game and got our just rewards."
