With Jon Whitney's Saddlers set to return to Sky Bet League 1 action next weekend with a trip to Sheffield United's Bramall Lane, the men in red have been handed a fitness boost as Captain Adam Chambers is expected to be fighting fit.

Speaking via the Express & Star, Interim Head Coach Whitney has also confirmed that defender James O'Connor, who recently penned a new deal at the club, is currently unlikely to recover in time with Matt Preston and on-loan Everton defender Matthew Pennington in line to deputise.

It has also been confirmed that the Saddlers international returnees, Neil Etheridge (Philippines), Jason Demetriou (Cyprus), Romaine Sawyers (St Kitts & Nevis) and Tom Bradshaw (Wales), will all be assessed once they have returned to the club.
