Walsall Football Club have today confirmed that former Scunthrpe United, Oxford United and Saddlers forward David Sloan has passed away at the age of 74.

The former Northern Ireland international scored three goals in 52 appearances for Walsall between 1973 and 1975, and played up front with Bobby Shilton and Alan Buckley at Fellows Park.

Born in Lisburn, Northern Ireland, David netted 42 goals in 136 league games for Scunthorpe United before moving to Oxford United in 1967, where he became the first U’s player to receive a full international cap. David spent six years with Oxford prior to joining Walsall, his final club before retirement in 1975,

We would like to pass on our sincere condolences to David's family and friends at this sad time.
