Following his surprise loan recall at the weekend, various media outlets are reporting that former Walsall loanee George Evans has undergone successful a medical with Sky Bet Championship side Reading after they agreed an undisclosed fee with Manchester City.

The Daily Mail report that George will initially join Reading on a free transfer, but his deal is believed to include several bonuses based on his performance and number of first-team appearances.

Manchester City recalled Evans early from a loan spell at Walsall just hours before the Saddlers' Sky Bet League 1 clash with Bury after several of clubs are believed to have made offers for the former trainee.

Former Walsall manager Dean Smith, who is now the manager of Brentford, was understood to be keen on landing Evans following their time together at the Banks's Stadium, and however, Reading moved quickly to fend off the interest from the Bees as George is set to become the club’s first signing of the January transfer window.
