Earlier this evening, Sky Bet Championship sides Reading and Huddersfield Town faced-off in a replay of their Emirates FA Cup Third Round clash, following a two-all draw earlier in the month, with Sean O'Driscoll's Saddlers awaiting the winner.

The match, which took place at the Madejski Stadium, was had the makings of a less than close affair as the Terriers took an early lead via former Walsall winger Jamie Paterson, who slotted past goalkeeper Ali Al-Habsi after just nine minutes of play.

Tom Smith was on hand to double Huddersfield's lead just after the fifteen minute mark, but the hosts were handed a lifeline just before the half-hour mark as Town defender Jonathan Hogg was beaten for pace by Reading's Matej Vydra, and in trying to recover bought the striker down, giving the referee no choice but to issue a straight red card.

Chelsea forward Lucas Piazon, who is on loan at Reading, would soon step up and dispatch a free kick past the 'keeper to reduce the deficit and give his side a chance of reaching the next stage of the competition.

Reading would go on to level the scores just before the hour mark as Matej Vydra reacted to a loose ball following a saved Hal Robson-Kanu effort and sent a bicycle kick past Joe Murphy in the Huddersfield goal.

Soon after they levelled the scores, Reading would go into the lead as Vydra scrambled the ball into the net following substitute Ola John's cross.

As the game entered added time Reading stretched their lead as the ever-present Vydra was played in on goal, he would beat his man and slip the ball past the 'keeper with the aid of a small deflection off Martin Cranie.

Huddersfield were unable to get enough bodies behind the ball as time ticked away and as a result went on to ship another goal, with Reading substitute Alex Fernandez slamming the ball home from distance.

This would be how the game ended as Brian McDermott's Royals booked their place in the Fourth Round of the competition, where they will host the Saddlers at the Madejski on Saturday, 30th January.
