Smith Among Millers' Managerial Targets?

According to media reports, Walsall manager Dean Smith is among a list of potential candidates for the manager's job at Sky Bet Championship side Rotherham United, which is available following last week's departure of Steve Evans.
According to media reports, Walsall manager Dean Smith is among a list of potential candidates for the manager's job at Sky Bet Championship side Rotherham United, which is available following last week's departure of Steve Evans.

Smith, who recently took charge of his 250th Saddlers match, is among the longest serving managers in the Football League and understood to be fully committed to the club.

The Sun report; "Smith has kept the Saddlers in the promotion race on a tight budget and took them to Wembley last season. Steve Evans left the Millers a week ago and the club hope Smith, 44, will be interested."

The report continues; "Burton have blocked an approach for Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink and Gillingham boss Justin Edinburgh snubbed them. Eric Black is standing in while Stuart Gray, Nigel Clough and Neil Redfearn are also in the running."

Media outlets close to the Saddlers understand that there is no interest from Smith, and the manager is fully concentrated on the task in hand as he prepares his side for this weekend's Sky Bet League 1 clash with Burton Albion.
