Earlier today Walsall Football Club first-team manager Dean Smith met with several members of his squad as he begins to build his team for the 2015/16 Sky Bet League 1 campaign.
Following those meetings, which ran for several hours, the club have this afternoon confirmed their 'released and retained' list, which you can see below.
There will be no new contracts offered to Mal Benning, Ben Purkiss, Jake Heath and Ashley Grimes, each of whom depart Banks’s Stadium with our thanks and best wishes for the future.
Discussions are ongoing with the following players regarding new deals: Richard O’Donnell, James O’Connor, Paul Downing, Adam Chambers, Craig MacGillivray, James Chambers, Matt Preston, Amadou Bakayoko, Liam Kinsella, Jordan Murphy and Liam Roberts.
Loan players, Michael Cain and Jordy Hiwula, have returned to their parent clubs and we thank them for their efforts during their time with The Saddlers.
The remaining members of the squad are under contract for the 2015/16 season.
