Walsall Football Club's record appearance holder Jimmy Walker has spoken to the local press following Sunday afternoon's Johnstone's Paint Trophy Final defeat to Bristol City, and has discussed his disappointment at the level of performance the Saddlers put in during the final, insisting that the players didn't give a true account of themselves.

Speaking to the Walsall Advertiser, Wacka said; "There will be a lot of 'if only this' or 'what if that' going on with Walsall this week – and that is a terrible thing for players to be thinking.

"They will feel they didn't give a true account of themselves out there and there is nothing worse and looking back on a game like that, like that. I was sick to death of saying it during the commentary for the game I was doing. I must have said it at least 20 times, the final ball just let them down.

"That wasn't Walsall for me. I have played against them a few times since I left and they are usually so sharp on the edge of the box, so dangerous – it just was not to be, though. That is football. Sometimes it can work like that and it is hard to understand why."
