The Walsall Football Supporters' Trust have today released a statement discussing their special song 'Walsall FC Go To Wembley', which has been produced in collaboration with local band The Assist, to mark Walsall Football Club's progression to the Johnstone's Paint Trophy Final, which takes place this Sunday at Wembley Stadium.
Released via walsallfctrust.org.uk, the Trust said; "OK! so The Assist's song 'Walsall FC Go To Wembley' may not be everyone's cup of tea, but no one can say that the song hasn't made a real impact amongst fans of both Walsall FC and the band alike.
"The song quickly appeared at No.200 in the iTunes Alternative Charts yesterday morning on just pre-orders alone but quickly made it's way up the charts as the day progressed and as more and more downloaded, overtaking many a well known artists such as Oasis, Blur and Paramore to name but a few. Ryan Stanton from the band kept the Trust up to date with the songs progress throughout the day as we saw their specially penned single rise higher and higher in the charts, finally peaking last night at a staggering No.42.
"The response of the fans has been immense, and we hope that those of you who haven't already downloaded the song, the proceeds of which will be donated to both The Brain Tumour Charity and the Walsall FC Youth Development Programme do so as soon as possible. It would be great for Band, the Trust and the Club alike to see the song hit No.1 by time we hit the hallowed turf of Wembley on Sunday.
