Walsall Football Club attacking-midfielder Romaine Sawyers has spoken to the local press following Sunday afternoon's Johnstone's Paint Trophy Final defeat to Bristol City, and has insisted that the team has much to be proud of and must forget the disappointment of the final and remember the run that got them there.

Speaking to the Walsall Advertiser, Romaine said; "I cannot tell you how it felt to play in that final. Just to be there and involved. It was breathtaking.

"It is what dreams are made of isn't it? I mean to play in a final at Wembley in front of 72,000 people. It was magical. Plus we deserved to be there and playing in it. We all worked so hard to get there.

"I am not going to forget all that just because we lost the game. No, for me I am going to remember it all. Not just the final, but the run as a whole. It is still the best thing I have done with my career yet. I am still so proud of the team for doing what we did.

"From when you first went out there, before a ball had even been kicked, the hairs on the back of my neck were standing up. This was a different level.

"It was inspiring. I mean there was 72,000 people there. 72,000 chose not to watch Man United take on Liverpool and that. They chose to come out and watch us play.

"It was inspiring. It is the kind of thing that makes you want to push on and do it again. It makes you want to go out and play in front of numbers like that as much as you can. That was just the feeling I was getting from the warm-up.

"I know we lost and I know we did not play like we all wanted to. But I did not sulk on the coach back. This was a game I was so proud to be in. At 23 years old, this is the kind of game that leaves you wanting more really."
