Walsall manager Dean Smith has spoken to the press ahead of this weekend's Sky Bet League 1 clash with Milton Keynes Dons, and has discussed long-term injury absentee Sam Mantom, who is back in contention after managing 65 minutes of the Saddlers' Reserves midweek defeat to Morecambe.
Speaking to the
Express & Star, Smith said; “I think he would be ready. I don't see any reason why he wouldn't be. He's put himself in contention by playing in the reserve game the other day.
“The work he's done over the last two months with Jon Whitney has been incredible to keep his fitness up and I think he's helped Jon Whitney with his fitness as well!
“Any of the lads will tell you that Whitts pushes them and he pushes himself by doing it so he ends up as fit as them.”
