Walsall Football Club vice-Captain Paul Downing has spoken to the press ahead of this weekend's Sky Bet League 1 clash with Milton Keynes Dons, and has discussed the current state of contract negotiations, insisting that he hopes that a deal can be reached soon.
Speaking to the Express & Star, Paul Said; “It is not something I deal with, though there have been some preliminary discussions.
“I have always said I’m happy here. I’m from the area and I enjoy coming and playing for Walsall. I’m optimistic and hopefully we can get something sorted in the near future.”
"They have given me such a fantastic opportunity. This is my third season now and the number of games I have played and the way I feel the club has progressed each year has been good, as well as my performances and gaining experiences.
“I am thankful to them for that and I would like to continue.”
