BANKS'S STADIUM: ENGLAND U18s SQUAD ANNOUNCED

England Under 18s Head Coach Neil Dewsnip has named his squad for their games with Switzerland later this month.
England Under 18s Head Coach Neil Dewsnip has named his squad for their games with Switzerland later this month.

The Young Lions face the Swiss twice, with a game behind-closed-doors in Telford next week before they play again at Walsall’s Banks’s Stadium on Saturday 28th March.

The head coach has selected a 20-man group for the games as the U18s continue their international programme against a nation who were fellow competitors at last May’s U17 Euro Finals.

The teams did not meet during that competition, so Dewsnip is looking forward to seeing a different set of opponents for his squad.

Speaking to TheFA.com, Dewsnip said; "It’s important to challenge all the England teams. We have played Holland twice, Italy away and then Poland away twice this season and, particularly for this group of players, they did ever so well in winning the Euros last year.

"It is important that we build on that momentum. They are a talented group and we want to give them tough challenges.

"Traditionally the Swiss youth teams are very competitive and they will be very well organised and hard to beat.

"We want to pit our wits against that and see if we can perform well and win both games – carrying on that momentum to take them into their U19s year next season."

Dewsnip has added four new faces to the squad, with Fulham keeper Magnus Norman, midfielders Louis Reed of Sheffield United and Luke Amos of Spurs and Middlesbrough forward Harry Chapman all receiving their first call-ups.

Goalkeepers: Magnus Norman (Fulham), Sam Howes (West Ham United).

Defenders: Jonjoe Kenny (Everton), Taylor Moore (RC Lens), Jake Clarke-Salter (Chelsea), Callum Connolly (Everton), Kyle Walker-Peters (Tottenham Hotspur), Tosin Adarabioyo (Manchester City), Max Lowe (Derby County).

Midfielders: Ryan Ledson (Everton), Louis Reed (Sheffield United), Josh Onomah (Tottenham Hotspur), Ainsley Maitland-Niles (Arsenal), Luke Amos (Tottenham Hotspur).

Forwards: Harrison Chapman (Middlesbrough), Adam Armstrong (Newcastle United), Dominic Solanke (Chelsea), Josh Sims (Southampton), Tammy Abraham (Chelsea), Sheyi Ojo (Wigan Athletic, loan from Liverpool).

Tickets for the game in Walsall cost just £3 for adults and £1.50 for concessions. Call 01922 651 414/416 for more details.
