FANS FOCUS: DETAILS FROM THURSDAY'S MEETING

On Thursday evening, Walsall Football Club Chief Executive Stefan Gamble and Club Secretary Daniel Mole hosted a 'Fans Focus Meeting' in the Priory Lounge at Banks's Stadium.
On Thursday evening, Walsall Football Club Chief Executive Stefan Gamble and Club Secretary Daniel Mole hosted a 'Fans Focus Meeting' in the Priory Lounge at Banks's Stadium.

If the club would like to increase their Johnstone's Paint Trophy Final allocation, they can do so, one block at a time, with no requirement to take the other 19,000+ as a whole.

The club have organised twenty coaches for the Johnstone's Paint Trophy Final, this number can be increased if necessary.

▶ The club did explore the use of a chartered train service to Wembley, however the cost was simply too high. Virgin Trains quoted a figure of around £27,000.

▶ The club have sold around 8,000 Final tickets so far, with them expecting to sell around 15,000 after the 'General Sale' period has begun.

▶ There was simply not enough time to produce a special shirt to commemorate the club's first appearance at Wembley Stadium.

The takings from both the Walsall and Bristol City ticket sales will be combined, the match expenses will then be taken out, with 90% of the remaining balance shared between the clubs. Match sponsors will receive 10%.

If the club was to win the Johnstone's Paint Trophy on 22nd March they will have received around £100,000 in total prize money.

▶ Profit from the cup run will go into Dean Smith's budget as the money is essentially 'new money' and was not budgeted for at the start of the campaign.

The club will receive all of the stadium and catering profits from this summer's Elton John concert, which is expecting a crowd of around 16,000 to be in attendance. All ticket money will be retained by the concert organisers.

Dean Smith and Stefan Gamble have already started negotiating new contracts with some of the players that are due to be out-of-contract in the summer. Details of some of the soon to be out-of-contract players can be found, here.

▶ Romaine Sawyers will leave for international duty wit St Kitts and Nevis following 22nd March's Johnstone's Paint Trophy Final appearance at Wembley Stadium, and will miss the League clash with Chesterfield.

▶ The club is reconfiguring the layout of the HomeServe Stand's bar and restaurant in the close season to allow better access to the bars and toilets. Complaints regarding the extra charge to access these areas have also been acknowledged by the club.

▶ Chips will not be sold from the kiosks due to insurance costs and health and safety concerns.

▶ There is still potential for money to be received from future sales of Troy Deeney, Will Grigg and Jamie Paterson, this includes any potential promotions.

▶ Last season's 'Player of the Season' Sam Mantom continues to make steady progress in his return from injury.

▶ The club will use data taken from the sold out Johnstone's Paint Trophy Northern Area Semi Final (Second Leg) clash with Preston North End to target, and create new supporters.

▶ There will be no fine for the pitch invasion that took place following the aforementioned second leg clash with Preston North End.

▶ The club's Centre of Excellence set up, which along with Head of Youth Neil Woods and coach Graham Biggs, continues to receive much praise from people outside the club.

The Under 18s season ticket is still regarded as a huge success, with a large percentage of supporters becoming full season ticket holders when outside of the promotions target age.

Also discussed was, the England Under 18s match which will be held on Sunday 28th March; and the news that Walsall Council is exploring ways to commemorate the Saddlers' first Wembley appearance.
