Walsall manager Dean Smith has spoken to the press ahead of this evening's Johnstone's Paint Trophy clash with Preston North End, and has insisted that the pressure is all on Preston.

Speaking to the Express & Star, Smith said; “We will keep working until the final whistle. We won’t leave any stone unturned.

“We practised penalties on Monday like we practised for every other round of the cup games because that is a possibility, if the tie doesn’t go how we want it to. We are going all out to win the game.

“The basics of football don’t change. When we get the ball we will try and score and when we haven’t got it we will try and stop them scoring. I’m mindful, as I keep reminding the players, that it’s not 0-0 in this game, it’s 2-0.

“That’s a big thing for me, as very rarely when this team has took the lead, have we lost a game. That’s the position we are in at the moment.

“You don’t need to do a big speech. If we perform well, its going to be very difficult for Preston to overturn a deficit. I think there is still more pressure on them.”
