Walsall manager Dean Smith has today admitted that he hopes to extend the loan of Leicester City midfielder Michael Cain for the remainder of the season, but is aware that he will face competition for the 20-year-old's services.

Speaking to the Express & Star, Smith said; “That is a discussion we have with Leicester City, Michael and his family. His contract is up at the end of the season with Leicester City, so it is important his family are involved in the decision because it is a big decision.

“For a kid in his first loan he has done very well and it has coincided with a really good run of performances and results from the team as well.

“Leicester have to decide what is best for him. We have had initial discussions and we will take it from there.”
