Walsall Football Club attacking midfielder Romaine Sawyers has spoken to the press about Tuesday evening's Johnstone's Paint Trophy, Northern Area Final aggregate victory over Preston North End, and has discussed how much the 'underdog' tag suits the clubs style of play.

Speaking to the Walsall Advertiser, Romaine said; "A lot of people wrote us off before the first leg but the belief in the team and the camp has always been there.

"We always seem to play better when people doubt us whether it be opposition fans or whoever.

"We've always got the belief in the changing room and the fans know from our statistics against the top teams that we always perform so they have the belief as well. It's been an amazing run with some strong performances.

"The Tranmere game sticks out where we had to come back from 2-0 down and it showed the togetherness and belief we have got as a team and Tuesday showed it again."

Romaine also discussed how nice it was to see the Banks's Stadium almost sold-out, he said; "It's nice to see that there are people out there still behind the club and who appreciate the club.

"They might not, for whatever reason, be there every week but it was good to see so many fans come out and to actually succeed and send them home knowing we are going to Wembley is a good thing.

"There might not be 10,000 here every week but the fans that are here, I'm sure they will be right behind us and we appreciate that."
