JOHNSTONE'S TO DELIVER COMMUNITY SPIRIT

In conjunction with its sponsorship of football’s Johnstone’s Paint Trophy, Johnstone’s has launched a Community Spirit campaign which will see local projects from all over the country vie for the makeover.

All 48 clubs in the 2014-15 Johnstone’s Paint Trophy will be invited to select, submit and provide their backing to one community project in their local area.

As well as considering nominations submitted, football clubs will reflect on work they already undertake in the community and in conjunction with the Football League Trust to consider potential options.

Local community initiatives are invited to put themselves forward for nominations to represent their local area at www.johnstonestrade.com/communityspirit

Each football club can select one nomination from its area and provide support to the project in its quest to claim top prize in the Community Spirit competition.

A judging process will then take place in which four finalists will be shortlisted for a public vote to decide the overall national winner.

Ben Wilde, brand and sponsorship manager of Johnstone’s Paint, said: “We have no restrictions on the nominations we are looking for. It could be a rundown scout hut, a community centre or an amateur boxing club.

“The only proviso must be that the facility or group serves or provides a benefit to the community.”

Nominations must be received by Friday November 21 via the Johnstone’s Trade website.

Ben added: “This is an extremely exciting project which enables us to reflect on community work that we regularly carry out in areas across the UK.

“Johnstone’s Paint has always maintained a strong commitment to working closely with local communities and supporting residents in these areas.

“The Community Spirit campaign will provide the opportunity for one lucky facility or group to enjoy a complete decorating makeover from Johnstone’s Paint and we are looking forward to sifting through what we are sure will be many deserving nominations from the clubs.”
