Walsall Football Club manager Dean Smith has today confirmed that former Saddlers loanee Milan Lalkovic will not be returning to the club this summer.

21-year- old Lalkovic initially joined the Saddlers on loan in July 2013 and made an instant impact by scoring in the 3-1 win over Tranmere Rovers on the opening day of the season, his loan was subsequently extended the following January.

He went on to score eight goals in thirty-eight first team appearances, however the latter part of his season was disrupted by a succession of hamstring injuries.

He returned to parent club Chelsea at the end of the season, but was released after his contract expired.

There has been much speculation surrounding Milan's fate over the past few weeks, however Smith has now confirmed that despite the clubs interest, no deal will be done.

Speaking to the Express & Star, Smith said: “I have spoken to Milan and he won’t be coming back. I think he may have offers from abroad and I know there are teams that have enquired too from the Championship.

“I had a really good chat with him. He is a really good lad and I have a lot of time for him. He actually said that he didn’t want to go to another League One team out of courtesy to us, which is a lovely thing to say.”
