Walsall Football Club midfielder Sam Mantom has today spoken of his belief in manager Dean Smith and has backed the gaffer to sign the right players ahead of the 2014/15 campaign...Speaking to the Walsall Advertiser, Mantom said: “The squad is looking a little bit thin at the minute. We have got a good core signed up but obviously you can’t play with seven or eight players.
“Obviously it’s going to be a tough ask for the gaffer but he’s done it before and I’m sure he will do it again.
“I remember two years ago when Mat Sadler left and everyone was saying ‘how are we going to fill that spot?’ – and he brought in a player like Andy Taylor.
“So the players are out there and I can’t see any reason why the gaffer can’t produce again. Obviously we need a few strikers and wingers as we are a bit bare there at the minute.
“But I am sure there are players out there on a free at the minute who can do a really good job and hopefully they can be better than the players that have left the club or been released.
“Everyone has got full faith in the gaffer. He has been there before and he knows what the crack is. We have still got a long time until pre-season as well.”
