Soon-to-be departing Walsall captain Andy Butler has today released a statement via the club's official site, thanking the fans and wishing the club all-the-best for the future...

Speaking to Saddlers.co.uk, Butler said: “It was a really difficult decision. I’d like to thank everyone at Walsall FC, and every fan, for a thoroughly enjoyable time.

“I’ve had an amazing time. There’s been some great memories such as staying up at Southampton and that last minute goal against Rochdale. Scoring against Wolves last season to get the win at Molineux is another memory that will stay with me forever.

“I’ve loved it at Walsall, but I had to think about my family. I have two young children and our family home is in Doncaster. The time spent away from my family has been hard. The travelling is difficult too.

“I’d like to thank all at Walsall for their support and I’d like to wish the players, staff and fans all the best for the future.”
