Youth Alliance: Rochdale 2-1 Walsall

The young Saddlers were back in action on Saturday morning as they took on Rochdale.
Walsall Under-18s were back in EFL Youth Alliance - North action on Saturday morning as they made their way to the Wright Robinson Sports College in Gorton, Greater Manchester, where they took on Rochdale.

Going into the match on the back of a welcome 3-1 win over Grimsby Town, the young Saddlers were looking to continue their promising spell that sees them sit comfortably in mid table, a far cry from last season's struggles.

ROCHDALE
Starting XI: Gee; Horrocks, Bradley, Brown, Platt, Pither, Cunliffe, Nowacki, Hardwidge, Leonard, F.Connolly
Substitutes: Potter; Fanning, Taylor, Barnes, H.Connolly
WALSALL
Starting XI: Hamilton-Wright; Tuitt, Wain, Bunn, Harris, Oliver, Khan, Bowes, Vreto, Kandemiri, Sjoerdsma
Substitutes: Clowes-Elson; Jarman, Bills, Griffiths, Doyle

Kicking-off at 10.30am, it was an early start for the young Saddlers, but they didn't let that phase them as Vasilis Vreto, who had scored one of the goals against Grimsby Town last weekend, netted his second goal in as many games to give the Saddlers and early lead.

Unfortunately for Walsall, their lead didn't last as the home side gathered themselves together and went on to draw level via Fabian Nowacki before the break. And the home side used their leveller as motivation and went on to take the lead, and ultimately the points, via Ronnie Brown in the second half.
