Walsall were looking to maintain their unbeaten start to the league season when they welcomed Oldham Athletic to the Pallet-Track Bescot Stadium on Tuesday evening.
The Saddlers scored the opening goal of the game midway through the first half when Jed Ward was alert to Tai Sodje's counter-attacking run and send the forward through on goal where he squeezed the ball past the 'keeper.
Walsall's second goal also came on the counter when Declan Skura provided the assist to Aaron Pressley, when was played in on goal where he went on to net his seventh goal of the season.
The Saddlers were gifted an opportunity to extend their lead in the second-half when substitute Mike Fondop-Talum was adjudged to have handled the ball inside the area, leading to Aaron Pressley's second goal of the contest, this one coming from the spot.
